February 29th, 5016.
Jonathan waited with a serene stillness as the walls around him shot upward. The plane he stood on descended into the earth, whose cavernous walls had been hollowed out to accommodate the necessary room Yamata 16 required for this location. It was a seed, a black cell, untouched by the world outside and the universe at large. And like a cell, it was one singular piece to a glorious organ that formed a miraculous living creature. The cells were everywhere, hidden in plain view or far away, on planets untouched by humanity and asteroids adrift in space. They had no shape, no pattern. They had no signature, which was just how Yamata 16 had preferred it for so many years.
Since its conception, Yamata 16 had worked in the shadows of humanity. It was there when the foundations of Bastion were construction and the universal order had been born. So, too, would it be there when the universe changed again.
The elevator came to a slow, descending to the eighth layer of the black cell's complex. Parting, Jonathan stride forth with the associates that followed him. Resha Heron, one of the higher members of Bastion authority, and Mikael Smithe, the head of an industrial weapon's complex. Both had been members of Yamata 16 for years. Both lay in the shadows, living their lives. But they were but a minute portion of any weight in the universe that Yamata 16 had.
They knew the truth. They remembered. And that was all that Yamata 16 asked.
"This cell is not for the faint of heart," Jonathan said as his easy stride carried him into the pristine metallic halls. They passed room by room, each full of equipment and people to operate them. "It is a facility designed to harness and manipulate xeno-biologicals. Countless species from across countless star systems, each just as interesting as the last. It wasn't long before humans discovered their uniqueness once we entered into interstellar territories. No doubt you've heard of Soot? An extremely addictive hallucinogenic. It comes from a snail-like organism from Salacia. That's the biggest find for the public to come across. Easy to make, easy to harvest. Child's play."
Jonathan adjusted the pristine sleeve of his garb. Fashioned after a doublet, it clung to his form without a single speck of filth against the white material. Laced over his form with an asymmetrical pattern, it cut in two ways just under his navel and split into two thick tails that stopped just above his ankles. Covered from head to toe, there was never any evidence of his affliction.
"We all know there are far more things to consider than just animal organisms. Plants, bacterium, and others we cannot yet even begin to classify. Each planet is a haven for new possibilities. And possibilities are what we are concerned with."
Jonathan turned down another hall, which led to a quick set of stairs that descended to another level.
"I wanted you both to see what we were working on here for a reason. Holo-messages share only so much. They do not provide the true details of the reality we live in."
"Such as?" Resha inquired. "Besides the obvious. Smell, taste, touch..."
"Mm, indeed. Besides the obvious. Come, I will show you. It was you especially I wanted to share this with, Miss Heron. And don't think I've forgotten about you, Mister Smithe. Your opinion is something I desire," Jonathan said, walking on as the two large, bay doors began to open. The lights inside flickered on, revealing an empty chamber.
"If you would," Jonathan gestured with the kindest of smiles. Resha and Mikael looked at one another before taking the assurance given to them, moving into the room. They moved passed a railing and down a double ramp, each taking their own, only to come to the plain, empty floor. They cast a shadow that descended into the floor itself -- glass.
The walls began to rumble and the room began to hiss...

I'd like to have a thread with those who are part of Yamata 16 and do some... deviant things.

I've brought a new member onto my team to moderate and help wherever needed. OtherSteve will be assisting in all matters, both because I am lazy and because managing a site should be a team effort.
I've known and played with Steve for many years. He'll be good for this place.

I work at a software company that manages tax foirms. The end of January is the biggest tax season of the year and I'm being slammed. I won't be around much and when I am, I can't guarantee that I'll be able to post. I've done plenty of overtime as it is this week and it's only going to get more busy. For the next two weeks, I'll be on hiatus.
Once February comes, so too will consistent posting.

Howdy! Being the creator/admin of the site, I've been working on the graphics for it from the get-go. I will do my best to accommodate everyone with at least an avatar if they should request it, but I will also do signatures if I have time. They tend to be much more difficult in terms of actual artistry, so they get done when I'm inspired/have time. Cbox pics are easy, all you have to do is ask in the cbox, do not ask here for them
. They take like two minutes max.
If you would like an avatar or signature, post a request. You can link some images if you'd like but one of my main rules is that I make the final choice of what image is used to represent your character, which may be entirely different from what you wanted. Even so, you're welcome to make a suggestion for a sort of aesthetic set up, background, image of your character, and I will still try to incorporate it. However, the creative process (basically whatever I can actually get to work and look nice) isn't a perfect one. I can't guarantee you'll get what you want but I'll try my best!
1 ) You must be an approved member of the site, meaning your application has been processed and stamped.
2 ) Ask for an avi, sig, or both, with the understanding it is an "I'll get to it when I get to it" request. You're more likely to get an avi out of me quickly than a shiny sig.
3 ) I get the final say of pics. Sometimes, I just can't work with certain pictures but I will do my best.
4 ) REMEMBER TO UPLOAD THE IMAGES TO YOUR OWN HOSTING ACCOUNTS.
Here's some examples of my general style. You'll notice that some have a "painted" quality to them and others are simply sharpened. I just pick and choose based on what I think the final picture looks better as, but I can provide as best a quality of each and you can pick yourselves. What I try to do most is have a solid background with a workable image, blend the atmosphere and tone of the pictures together. Naturally, this is a scifi board, so I'll have something working in that theme. To make the image a little more interesting I usually add a "particle" effect, which tends to be some ambient colors or representations of abilities. Names and taglines tend to come in a combo of normal and cursive text. Something short and concise will help me with your taglines.
Avatars will all be 200x300
Signatures will float between 500x250 and 550x300.
Most of these are from an X-Men site I played on:
(This was actually a collab piece with Vivi.)
